“This is the chimney from Houldsworth House located in Reddish, Stockport, it was featured in the Asda Christmas TV ad, with a few visual manipulations. The chimney is 80m in height and was built in the 1860s. This was a chimney I personally wanted to film as I grew up in its shadow in the 60s & 70s. At the top of the chimney, you can see that there are newer bricks laid around the top and a steel ring added on top. This work was carried out by the famous steeple Jack Fred Dibnah, I remember being aged 7 or 8 and watched, like the rest of the neighborhood as he slowly ascended the chimney, nailing in each section of the ladder as he climbed.”
